Gary Kwong (the person behind the Rumbling Edge) just posted his analysis of the survey he’s done, based on talking to Thunderbird users who are already fairly “in the loop”. It’s worth reading.

It’d be good to also survey people who aren’t using Thunderbird, to find out why. After a few weeks of evaluation, I chose Windows Live Mail 1.0 over Thunderbird 2.0, for user interface reasons — though I’m paying attention to TB development because I’d like to provide input for version 3, with the hope that it would become better than Microsoft’s client. When you’re ready, please make it obvious where to contribute suggestions for v3.
