Unavoidably, my taking on a new job at Mozilla means that I’ll be leaving my old one behind. After eight years, that’s something that begs commenting, especially if to those who’ve known me primarily through my various roles at ActiveState. ActiveState has been a tremendous home for me for many years. Throughout my tenure I’ve [...]

Joining Mozilla
As Mitchell Baker just blogged, and as a press release from Mozilla will announce shortly, I have taken on an exciting new role within the Mozilla world, leading a new organization focused on email and internet communications. Wow indeed. I’m thrilled to take on a significant role within the Mozilla world. As my colleagues, friends [...]
Is it possible to use the “direct GPRS” connection to talk to the net on Fido.ca?
I’m trying to get the Gmail mobile app to work on my BenQ-Siemens EF81. I have a Fido account with a GPRS plan. I can get to the web using the built-in browser by setting up a “Connectivity Profile” that points to wap.fido.ca, and creating a “Internet Profile” that specifies a proxy address of 172.25.0.107 [...]

Iraqis is as well. That doesn’t — there are millions of them, if that doesn’t define “common” then I don’t know what [...]
Shrook Calling Pukka, Shrook Calling Pukka…
AppleScript, Shrook & Pukka experts — is it possible to build a custom keyboard command that lets me invoke Pukka from Shrook? (These names, I know!). I haven’t touched AppleScript seriously since the late 80s I fear, but there’s got to be a way to hijack Pukka’s Mark as Flagged command, no?
Misc software recommendations
I’ve upgraded the software I use for blog-reading & writing. I’m pretty happy with the following so far: I’ve switched to Shrook as my aggregator. It’s the only one I found that could let me quickly reorganize my 300+ RSS feeds into groups. Key word being “quickly”. Most of the others I tried didn’t scale [...]
New version of the Chandler Desktop client out!
It’s been a long slog, I hear, so I’m keen to see how the OSAF team has progressed on their PIM since the last time I checked it out (years ago!).
Anyone taking a Django weblogging engine public?
Some really bright people seem to be building really nice blogs with Django. Is anyone considering turning the bespoke code into a reusable project? I’d be up for something that I could hack on with ease…
