Why do so many weather widgets show you the current weather? In what circumstances is it easier to use an app of any kind or look at the top of a web page than to look up from the computer or phone?

When you are in a cubicle with no view of the outside. I used to have WeatherPop on my Mac because it was the best way for me to have a clue about the weather. Otherwise I didn’t even know if the sun was out. Now I sit next to a window and I don’t need it any more.

or just stick out your head out of the window and look? I generally think it’s just a coolness factor of having it in something personal than watching the weather channel and waiting for the current forcast
